Always knit the last stitch of the row, which may come at any point in the line of directions.

Row 1: (right side) With B, * k5, sl 1, k3, sl 1; rep from *.

Row 2 and all other wrong-side rows.

With the same color as the previous row, purl all the same sts of that color knitted on the previous row; sl all the same sl-sts wyif.

Row 3: With A, k4, * sl 1, k5, sl 1, k3; rep from *.

Row 4: With A the same color as the previous row, purl all the same sts of that color knitted on the previous row; sl all the same sl-sts wyif.

Row 5: With B, kl, * sl 3, k7; rep from *.

Row 6: Repeat Row 2

Row 7: Repeat Row 3 With A, k4, * sl 1, k5, sl 1, k3; rep from *.
