 I saw this little fancy edge on a scarf and loved it;

Note Edging is worked lengthwise. Slip all the sl sts knit wise.

Cast on 8 sts.
Row I *K1, pi; rep from * to end.
Row 2 *P1, kl; rep from * to end.
Row 3 Rep row 1 (for 3 rows in seed st).
Row 4 SI 1, k2, yo, k2tog, yo twice, k2tog, kl—9 sts.
Row 5 K3, pi, k2, yo, k2tog, kl.
Row 6 SI 1, k2, yo, k2tog, kl, yo twice, k2tog, kl—10 sts.
Row 7 K3, pi, k3, yo, k2tog, kl.
Row 8 SI 1, k2, yo, k2tog, k2, yo twice, k2tog, kl—11 sts.
Row 9 K3, pi, k4, yo, k2tog, kl.
Row 10 SI 1, k2, yo, k2tog, k6.
Row 11 Bind off 3 sts knit wise (1 st rems on RH needle from bind-off), k4, yo, k2tog, kl—8 sts.

Rep rows 4-11 until piece fits lengthwise along one end of scarf, ending with row 10.

Bind off 3 sts, p1, [kl, p1] 3 times.

Work 1 more row in seed st on 8 sts

Bind off in seed st.
